NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM MAKES IT BRIGHTEST PLACE ' IN EUROPE * HIGH-POWER LAMPS INSTALLED

RUGBY, Sunday. Lamp standards 26 feet high and weighing 11 tons each were being erected in Picadilly Circus, London, to-day as part of the new electric lighting system which is believed will make the thoroughfare the brightest place in Europe and the Empire. The power used will be 60,000 watts, 01* 1000 times the power of lights which people ordinarily read by in their homes.
