DE VALERA CONFIDENT RILL WILL NOT AFFECT STATUS AT OTTAWA WANTS THINGS BOTH WAYS
— By Telegraph — Crp> right.)
Rec. April 18, 7.10 p.m. LONDON, Monday. The Times' Dublin correspondent states that nobody can foresee the sequel to Mr. de Valera's introduction of the Oath Removal Bill. If Labour supports the Bill, as seems likely ,the oath will be abolished by an open vote. The Senate may refuse to throw out the Bill because Mr. de Valera, if returned at a new election, which would probably follow, would abolish the Senate. Mr. de Valera seems confident that his abolition of the oath will not affect the Free State's representation at the Ottawa Conferenee, whence he expects to return with valuable preferenees. It is said that he has a one-way mind. Apparently one-way minds can persuade themselves that they can have things both ways.
