"Working Their Passage"

On being requested by two young men for a lift home, a Southland car driver decided to have a little amusement at their expense. He informed the two young men the car was a stubborn starter and requested them to push it along till the engine started. Seating himself at the wheel, the driver was observed wearing a huge grin as the two young men pushed the car the length of a block. He then relented and, pressing the selfstarter, told the two over-heated men to elimb aboard.
