MATAMATA STOCK SALE

HAMILTON, Thursday. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their fortnightly sale to-day when only a medium yarding of sheep came forward. Prices for fat sheep remained unchanged, but breeding ewes were hard to dispose of. Cattle : An exceptionally heavy yarding, comprising mostly fresh conditioned cows, came forward. Quotations remained unchanged. A few pens of steers and heifer calves came forward, and although they were sold under the hammer late ruling prices prevailed. Pigs: There was an extra heavy yarding of fat and store pigs. The bulk of the yarding was comprised of porkers which were sold at ruling rates, while any good baconers met with lceen competition. Prices all round were equal to Frankton quotations. Quotations: — Sheep: Forward conditioned wethers, 8s 6d to 10s; fat ewes, 5s to 7s; cull lambs, 4s 4d; small two- and four-tooth ewes, r.w.r. 8s 6d. Cattle: Light fat steers, £3 12s to £3 16s; fat heifers, £2 12s 6d to £3 14s; fat cows, £2 to £2 16s; lighter fat cows, 25s to 32s 6d; heavy boner cows, 18s to 24s; light and aged cows, 11s to 15s! two- to two and a-half-year Shorthorn steers, £2 to £2 5s; mixed coloured two-year steers, 25s to 27s 6d; bulls, heavy £2 15s to £3 5s; lighter, £1 ls to 35s; choice one and a-half-year Fresian heifers, r.w.b., £2 15s; choice Jersey heifer calves, 25s to 30s; small heifer calves, 6s to 14s. Pigs: Choppers, £1 7s to £2 2s; heavy baconers, 38s to £2; light, 29s to 32s; medium baconers, 33s to 37s; heavy porkers, 23s to 27s; medium porkers, 19s to 22s; light porkers, 14s to 18s; stores, 10s 6d to 12s; slips, 6s to 9s; weaners, 2s 6d to 5s.
