PRICE OF ELECTRICITY

OVERCHARGED.

(To the Editor). Sir, — Last year efforts were made by residents to get the Government to rgduce the present high charges for electric power and light. Mr. Clinkard took the matter up for us with the Minister and the "Morning Post" supported us. We were told through the member that the matter was being looked into and were led to expect a reduction, but nothing has been done about it yet. The Government talks a lot about a fall in the cost of living to try and justify its wage cuts, but it doesn't seem too keen to help by redueing the cost of its own services, though tbey charge more than most of the power boards for their electricity, and don't give as good a service. Now that the long nights are here, the cost of light is an important item in general Tiving costs. Can nothing be done about it? — -I am, etc.
