annual meeting LARGE GATHERING ELECTS NEW OFFICERS FOR SEASON . MR. DE LUEN MADE LIFE MEMBER. \ The annual general meeting of the Rotorua Rugby Union was held on Wednesday evening in St. Luke's Hall. Mr. T. S. Robertson occupied the ehair in the absence of the president, Mr. G. H. Mason. There was an excellent attendance. The report and balance sheet was adopted, the only question asked being in connection with the £4 grant made by the Bay of Plenty Union to the schoolsD It was pointed out that the money had not been handea over to the Rotorua schools last year, but an assurance was given by the chair that the matter would be attended to early in the coming season.

Election of Officers. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted. — Patron, Mr. W. Galbraith; vice-patrons, Messrs. D. W .Steele, A. Walden, Kinninmont, and Colonel E. G. Fraser; president, Mr. T. S. Robertson; vice-presidents, Mr. A. de Luen and Mr. R. I. Dansey; hon. surgeons, Dr R. Dorset, Dr. W.. S Wallis, Dr H. Bertram and Dr. S. H. Hay; hon. auditor, Mr. J. W. Webber; 'hon, 'secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Henderson; sole senior selector, Mr. T. Anderson; sole junior selector, Mr. R. Mason;. representative to referees' appointment board, Mr. A. G. Cottrell; management committee, Messrs. G. Dansey, L. Clarke, W. G. Harwood, C. Rogers, A. G. Cottrell, A. Price and J. Windeler. Mr .A. L. Wallace, the retiring secretary, moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Henderson for the fine work he had carried out during the past season as acting secretary. A vote of thanks was also accorded Mr. Wallace for the untiring work he had done in the interests of Rugby during the years he had been associated with the game in the district. Mr. Wallace moved, and Mr. Robertson seconded, that Mr .A. de Luen be elected a life member of the Rotorua Union. Mr. de Luen was one of their oldest members and was always a keen supporter of Rugby in every way. 1It is the least we can do to' make Mr. de Luen a life member," said Mr. Wallace in conclusion, and the motion was carried amid acclamation. Mr. de Luen thanked the meeting and expressed his appreciation of the honour accorded.

Notice of Motion. j Mr. R. G. Webb gave notice to move that clause 18 of the constitution be amended. He moved that the words j "All presidents and secretaries of affiliated clubs or sub-unions, life members, delegates and the officers of the Rotorua Rugby Union" be deleted for the 1932 season, from the clause, which permitted these members free access to the football field. In explaining his motion, Mr. Webb said that in the present hard tfmes it was up to these officers to assist with the union's finances. He did not | consider for a moment that there wouldl be any objection. It was decided that referees and life members be exempted from paying, but that all other members be charged the usual entrance fee. It was moved by Mr. Robertson and seconded by Mr. L. Clarke, "that nominations for officers of the Rotorua Rugby Union, with the exception of patron* vice-patron and hon. surgeons, be in the hands of the secretary of the union at least ten days before the date of the annual meeting, duly signed by the nominee and his proper seconder."

After some discussion it was decided that the junior maximum weight limit be eleven stone ten pounds. The election of delegates to the Bay of Plenty Union was left in the hands of the incoming committee. These delegates are to be instructed to support the three hooker scrum. The support to be given to the arrangement of the back row was left to their discretion. In the case of a player wishing to be transferred from one club to another, it was decided that his application had to be signed by Irmself and the secretary of the club he was leaving before it would be considered. The question of reduced gate charges and the matter of affiliating this season with the Bay of Plenty Union were left in the hands of the incoming management committee. — m
