PRICES SLIGHTLY EASIER AT cRRIS^CBf.URCH competitiqn keen CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The fourth Christchurcb wool sal,e of the s.ea^qn was opened to-day whep 14,125 bales were f offered. There was a, f ull b.encb of huyers represqnting Bradfqr d, the Continept and New Zealand millsf . , The off ering was not attractive and competition \yas keen at th'e lower levpl .qf prices ruling. The wool was not up to the standard of the Febrqary auction, a substantial portion being back-country merino and halfbre(d wool, and a' larg'e portion of the remajnder was wool passed in at the wool', apd a large portion fof the earlier saies, while cfossbred linqs were numerous. The wool generaily ' was heavy in coridition, lackin& lustrp. The hulk of the offering was coar^e wool, for which the demand has been weak during the current seaspn. Values were lower than- the last Christchurch sale, hut sq far as tl)e. grades aUqw, accurate comparisop with ; the Nqrth lslqnd saies,, it would appear that the values rulin_g coryespqnded to the, recent saies at the prices in the Nprth . Competition was keen and goqc clearances made. On the last Christchurch sale, the values were down a half-henny per pound for super wopl apd average to "gqod seyviceable wop . pf' finpr quality,' while f.or sbabhiqy wool, they were easier .a half-penpy to three-farthmgs p,er pound, and fqr coarser, were easier one fartjiip^ to a halfpenny.
