The growing practice of motor-car owners taking pa?sengers for trips, if they paid a share of the benzine us d, was the subject of a complaint made by an applicant for a bus license before the Transport Authority in Greymouth. The chairman (Dr. A. S. Gibbs) assured the applicant that he had the sympathy of the Authority, but stated that there ^yas no way of stopping the practice. It was decided to record the protest of the applicant against the abuse of private cars.
