thirty-two convicts face charges of damage PRECAUTIONS IN COURT

Rec. Mar. 8, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Tuesday. To-day, 32 Dartmoor convicts paraded under a strong guard before Superintendent Smith and were f ormally charged under the Malicious Damage Act, with offences arising out of the recent mutiny at the prison. Some of the charges were collective and others individnal. The formal hearing will take place to-morrow before a Magistrate at the prison, when the men will be remanded to appear on March 16, at the Town Hall, Princetown, where the convicts are constructing a large dock to accommodate the accused and a strong guard. The chairs and the benches are being bolted to the floor as a precaution against an outbreak of violence. The accused are still in solitary confinement, except for daily exercise.
