MAJESTIC
TO-NIGHT
Norma Shearer again scores a triumph in versatility in "Let Us Be Gay," her hew Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture, which opened at the Majestic Theatre last night. This delightful picturisation of' Machel Crother's stage hit further evidences Miss Shearer 's superb skill in essaying roles of smart sophistication. As /Kitty, the dowdy wife who awakens from marital doldrums to find her dashing young husband in the arms of a more attractive woman, Miss Shearer undergoes a striking metamorphosis that turns her out as an alluring woman of the world, a feminine cosmopolite to be reckoned with in mixed gatherings. Rod La Rocque is the husband in this instance, and his frantic efforts to remain his wife's love is amply justified by the startling change he 'finds in her. Marie Dressler is the eccentric old dowager whose trickery brings them back together, but not until she has almost lost the trick by playing her trumps at the wrong moment. t.j
