NEW york, Wednesday. At the request of Colonel and Mrs Lindbergh the Governor of New Jersey withdrew offers of rewards aggregating 35,000 dollars, because it was feared that these might endanger the child. Jt is qpdpi'stppd th§t the parents §re anxious tq negotiate with the kidnappers" for the return of their child. It is reported that they are willing to pay 50,000 do'llars. A postcard receiyegl by Colonel Lindbergh said: "Thq baby is safe instrqctions l§ter. Act accordingly." An other note promised % "We shall communicate witB you on Wednesday to talk Business,*!' .. . The whole cpuntry is aroused over the qutrage.
