THREE MFN ARRESTED AT WELLINGTON POLICE OPPOSE BAIL

WELLINGTON, Saturday. Arrested in the city yesterday afternoon, Richard Ryan (32), taxidriver, Charles Partington (31), mechanic, and William Wilson (25), photograjpher, were charged to-day with breaking and entering the shop of Hazelwood and Company, at Upper Hutt, and stealing goods valued at £109 4s 9d In opposing bail Detective-Sergeant Revell said there were hundreds of pounds involved. These men carried out a series of burglaries the night before last, and yesterday, when they were arrested, quite a lot of property was recovered. There was still a lot of property to be found, and for that reason he must oppose bail. Baff was refused. William Aubrey (66), carpenter, charged with receiving cigarettes valued at 14s 6d, knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained, was also remanded till March 5. Bail in £100 was allowed. hmb - ...
