DIPLOMATIC RELATIQNS STILL MAINTAINED BETWEEN BELLIGERENTS JAPAN LOSING SYMPATHY
RUGBY, Saturday. News from Shanghai indicates that the Chinese continue to hold all the positions north of Woosung Creefe, including the forts, and the position at Chapei is unchanged. Japanese reinforcements are reported to be on the way. Meanwhile, despite the continuing hostilities, diplomatic relatioris -between Japan and China continue. The Chinese Minister remains at Tokyo, Tyhere he has discussions with the Japanese administration, and the Japanese Minister in China continues in contact with the Chinese Government representatives, while in the Western hemisphere diplomatic discussions are being continued with the hope of early collective ,meditation in the anomalous, dangerous and* unprecedented situation.
