rotorua buslding PLANS COMPLETED FOR NEW UP-TO-DATE TALKIE THEATRE A GISBORNE PROMOTOR
GISBORNE, Friday. For some time past, there have been rumours of a new amusement place for Rotorua. Arrangements have now reached a definite stage, and it is possible in the course of the next few months, the town will he provided with a new talkie theatre in a central site in the business area. Some weeks ago plans were entr.usted to Mr. H. L. D. West the well known Bay of Plenty architect, now of Tauranga, and these plans are now completed and in the hands of the proprietor of the new theatre, Mr. R. J. Kerridge, of Gisborne. Plans show an artistic building with all the latest injprovments and the most modern Western Electric sound machine. The seating accomodation will be 750. All the interior fittings will be on a lavish scale. In the front of the buildipg are three attraetive shop fronts, and already inquiries are being made about these. Mr. Kerridge, who already has a chain of theatres extending from Levin, Wairoa and Gisborne along the Bay of Plenty to Thames, proposes to add Rotorua to the list. The plans of the new theatre will come before the Borough Council, it is expected, within the next fortnight. mmmm^ ^
