REFUSED TO LEAVE

NATIVE ADMITS BREACHES OF PROHIBITION ORDER
WHAKATANE, Wednesday. Before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., this week, Steve Mita, a native, appeared on three charges relative to breaehes of his prohihition order. Mita was charged with procuring liquor while being a prohibited person with entering licensed premises while being prohibited, and with refusing to leave licensed premises after being requested by the police so to do. Constable Cummings prosecuting, stated that defendant had been engaged on the native developmental scheme and had come to town and entered the hotel while he was a prohibited person. On being requested to leave he refused. Defendant pleaded guilty. On Constable Cummings stating that this was Mita's first breach of his order, His Worship convicted him with costs 20s on the first charge, and costs 15s on the second eharge. On the third charge, however, His Worship stated he took a more serious view of the niatter and fined Mita £2 with 15s costs.
