LAYING TOTE ODDS

FOUR MEN FINED TIMARU, Wednesday. Three men, Ivan Vuleda, Alfred L. T. Huston, and James Fins, appeared in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon on a charge of making bets at totalisator odds on the Dunedin raees. Joseph Todd was charged with mak- " ing bets with the aceused. There were two charges against each. Vuleda, Huston and Fins complained to the police that Todd had' been .paying them with valueless cheques, ond having heen presented to a bank and dishonoured. Todd complained t'o the police that the men ha'd refused to pay hihi. A number of substantial bets had been made, most of which were on horses which won. All pleade'd guilty and were fined £20 each on each charge. ]
