DISSATISFACTION

MEAT, DAIRY AND FRUIT EXPORT BOARD'S VIEWS ON EXCHANGE GOVERNMENT'S DELAY WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Meat, Dairy and Fruit Export Boards met on Thursday to consider the position in connection with the exchange pool. The report of the Exchange Committee was received and adopted. Great dissatisf action was expressed by the Board that the Government had not taken the necessary steps to cancel the Order in Council and remove restrictions that have been imposed on free exchange. The boards were unanimous in their opinions that farmers had suffered to a material cxtent by each day's delay, and that the effect of the further =Bill would be that the whole of this production year would he sold and realised without the gain to the farmers that .was legitimate to them. From the evidence collected and laid before the boards, it was consider ed inevitable that the rate of exchange must rise considerably later in the year. The whole of the people would then have to pay inereased prices for many lines without having received benefits that would have been obtained if the higher exchange were brought into effect. The earlier farmer would thus be sacrificed. The committee was instructed to press for early settlement of the question, and to take such action as it deemed necessary.
