BOMB IN BASILICA
DAMAGE TO ST. PETER'S, ROME, YERY NARROWLY AYERTED ROME, Tuesday Little seriousness at first was attached to the discovery of a bomb on Saturday night in the Basilica of St. Peter's Cathedral behind Pope Innocent XI's memorial. It was promptly dumped in a fountain and afterwards exploded. Experts say it would have done grievous damage had it exploded in St. Peter's. It is assumed it was placed there a few hours before the Pope descended to the Basilica during the recent anniversary of his coronation.
