SCHOOL UNIFORMS

(To the Editor) Sir, — High School boys not attending barracks, were instructed hy the gardener to weed, which T thing was very unfair to the parents,- who had just provided them with new uniforms to start the new term with. My boy came home with his elothes in a very dirty condition, while it was so dry and dusty. You would have thought he had worn them the whole year. Weeding is not a clean job, so there is no excuse If the school had to buy the cloths, the boys would soon have been put in some old ones. Is the gardener getting paid for what the boys are doing for punishment because they did not go into barracks? I would not object if there was a course in gardening, as part of the boy's lessons, bnt for all he has learnt and done in lessons the last three days he might as well have stayed at home and weeded the house garden, when he would have saved his uniform. I am sure the other parents who had boys doing the saipe will agree -with me. — I am, etc.
