FREE STATE OUTRAGE
SENSATION ON EVE OF IRISH ELECTION POLL PENSIONER ARRESTED On the eve of the Free State elections, a sensation has been caused by the murder of Mr. Patrick Reynolds, a Government candidate, and a • companion, Detective McGeehan, who were shot dead In the course of Mr. Reynold's cariipaign.' A man has been arrested in connection with the outrage. It is stated tliat the murder was non-political> but it has qaused a profound sensation. Detective McGeehan had recently been accused of assaulting a Republican leader, James Yaugh, Who died, allegedly as a result of ill-treatment by meihbers of the Civic Guard. Mr. Reynolds and ■ the detective were witriesses' at tbe inquest into the eircumstances of Vaugh's death.
