INDIVIDUALITY
ARE YOU ONE OF THE MODEL ARMY? By now we should all realise that the individuality of our clothes is part of own personality. Fashions come and fashions go, but we remain ourselves always. To-day- there is, no doubt there always has been, a tendency for most women to seize upon the newest and latest fashion, only because it is new and late apd provide the masculine eyes and the eyes of a few discerning women who happen to be blessed with ia taste and personality of E.air own with the monotonous but very often amusing spectacle of a uniformed world of women. There comes a sudden craze for black and white. Walking down the main street of any large city one ineets girl after girl, in a black froek. trimmed with a dash of white, a white hat perched precariously at a wouldbe daring angle, and hlaclc and white shoes. Will women never realise that this marching army of model women, dressed alike, speaking alike, acting alike, becomes so wearisome and monotonous that it fades into the hackgfound of the ordinary and comrnonplace ? Study yourself and choose what will suit you aceordingly. Study your colcuring, your figure, and the oceasioh; choose the middle course in fashions and you will be noticed without being glaringly eonspicuous. The illustration below shows a well known film actress, Jt)an Crawford, who knows how to do all these things. She has combined black and white, but in a manner that is quietly and simply distinctive. The cleverly cut and dignified gown is made, of black and white velvet with a detachable white velvet cloak. It is a froclc that must he lived up to.
The new fashion for sleeves and the latest short coat is featured below with distinction by a Paramount actress. This model is in nut brown and cream, the skirt being of brown velvet ari dthe jacket of cream velvet trimmed with brown fur. Brown
gloves and purse and a cream hat complete the pieture. On the right woman the ensemble looks smart arid correct, but can you not see how several women in the same outfit would spoil the effect for everyone and make what is really effeetive most ridiculous ? eo
