BOWLERS' CONCERT
EXCELLENT PROGRAMME REPEATS PREVIOUS i SUCCESSES ? Despite the cold wind blowing last evening, a large number , of people was p.resept at. the Bowlers' Concert in . the Governraent Gardqns. This conqert is now becoming regarded as a r.egular annual fixture, and the programme proyided is always of a high standard. Last night's entertainment was no exception, and the audience showed their appreciation of the various items in no uncertain manner. During the evening a collection was taken up,*the proceeds to be divided equally between the Unemployment Committee, and the Rotorua Women's Club,./.; The first item was given by a mixed orehestra, yrhich played "Our Director" and "Veni, Vidi, Viei." The orchestra was followed by Miss Kronf elt, who sang "Still as the Night." Miss Kronfelt came well up to extpectations and -as an encore sang "The Market." - A dramatic recital by Mr, Barton Ginger of Wellington^ who is already well known in - Rotorua, was very populqr. Mr. Ginger gave a very realistic -and yivid impression of "The First Appearance of Nicholas Taccanardi at the ,Odion Theatre, Paris." He was enthusiastically -recalled and gave a humorous monologue, "The Vicar Spealcs About Marriage and Other Things," by special request. Again reealled, he gave a short number, "Me Too." : Another popular item was a song by Mr. E. Hill, of Wellington, who is now very well-known to Rotorua audiences. By request, Mr. Hill sang "Dainty Dorothea." He received an enthusiastic recall and gave "Waiata Poi" very effectively. A violin solo by Miss Grace Oameron-Johnson was very well received. Miss Johnson played "Canto .Amoroso," followed by "A Love Song." i Miss Del Thompson delighted the audience with a lively dance in character and well deserved her encore. Mr. J. Buchan followed, with the well-known song "The SergeantMajor On Parade." Mr. Buchan was unmistakeably encored and sang "Red Devon. By the Sea." The announcer, Mr. G, R. Tapper, then thanked those who had contributed to the programme, and asked the audience to carry a vote of thanks by acclamation. • The concluding item was given by the orchestra, and their number, "Golonel Bogey," went with a great swing.
