AGENT-GENERAL ASKS FOR TWELVE MONTHS' GRACE ADVICE TO MR. LYONS

LONDON, Tuesday. Immediately he received Mr. Lang's cablegram Mr. A. C. Willis, the State Agent-General, approached Westminster Bank and the Chase National Bank, fiscal agents respectively, for the British and American bondholders, with a request for a year's suspension of interest here and in America. Mr. Willis told the Australian Press Assoeiation that the request obviously implied a satisfactory settlement at the end of a year's moratorium but the negotiations were now only in the preliminary stage. Mr. Willis says he has information inclining him strongly to the belief that .Mr. Lyons would he well advised, even at this late hour, to take a wider Australian outlook and endeavour to find a way out of the difficulties.
