new british tariff TEN PER CENT ON FOREIGN IMPORTS WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS DOMINION PRODUCTS FREE
— By Telegraph — O .-pynght).
Rec. Feb. 3, 11 p.m. LONDON, Wednesday. The "Daily Express" understands that the Government on Thursday, will announce in the House of Comons, firstly, a general ten per cent. tariff on all foreign imports, except a few selected raw materials and some food stuffs, and secondly, free entry for all Dominion and Colonial imports. Thursday should be the greatest day of Empire jubiliation since 1918. The same journal suggests that the next move rests with the, Dominions and Colonies, which should try to match Great Britain's historic gesture. The Colonies should impose a ten per cent. tax on foreign imports and grant Dominion goods preference while the Dominions might gr'acefully adjust their preferential tariff s in the same degree.
