Rec. Feb. 3, 11 p.m. HAVANA, Wednesday. A report reached the Spariish newspaper, "E1 Mundo" that at one o'clock this morning the City of Santiago, (Cuba) had been laid in ruins by an earthquake, with a toll of 2000 lives. A later message from Santiago states that one-third of the city is in ruins, and 1500 persons are estimated to he dead, following two severe earthquake shocks early this morning. A despatch from the yacht Corinth states that an earthquake was observed on the mainland. Heavy damage is indicated and the loss of life cannot he ascertained.
