GRAND THEATRE
TO-NIGHT With newspaper headlines throughout the country shrieking the exploits of numerous bands of racketeers and gangsters, James Cruze's latest production "Costello Case," closely paralleling a recent baffling underworld crime, has the merit of being a vivid, graphic and timely talking picture of the shady workings of desperate underworld gangs. This gripping, dramatic talkie is being presented at the Grand Theatre, where it is providing keen entertainment of a high order. When Patrolman Mahoney (Tom Moore) discovers the dead body of Costello stretched out on the sidewalk in front of his establishment, the complicated police machinery is put into operation, and nets are spread to drag in suspects. Mile-Away-Harry (Wheeler Oakman) is questioned, as well as a pair of youthful elopers. How the baffling mystery of Qostello's murder is solved, and the unsuspected quarters into which the investigation is carried, provide the action in a tense, tingling drama that packs a series of thrills.. Tom Moore turns in a superb characterisation of the cop, with Lola Lane, Wheeler Oakmah, Russell Hardie and Roscoe Karris each registeriing effectively in important roles.
