LADIES CHOSEN TO TRAIN FOR SELECTION FOR CH AMPION SHIPS EVENING MEETING PROGRAMME The following ladies have been chosen by the Qlub handicapper (Mr . G. H. Weir) to go into training for the purpose of selecting a team of five to travel to Auckland on February 13 to compete in the Auckland Provincial amateur athletic championships. Misses B. Burhey, R. Steele, B. Cottrell, H. Dawson, W. Steele, M. Ford, A. Dodson, G. Dodson, B. Fisk and N. Smith. Training for the coming week will he held at the Government Grounds on Monday and Wednesday evenings aj ¥ p.m. sharp, and those selected will also be expected to enter for the ladies' events at the sports meeting on February 5. To ensure eomplete preparation for the relay races at the championship meeting it is imperative that strict attention be paid to training, and the selector has definitely advised that only those who do this will be considered for inclusion in the team. Any lady member or intending member not included in the selection, and who .desire a try out, may attend for training on the nights stated. The evening sports meetings held under the auspices of the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will be recommenced next Friday, February 5, at the High School Grounds at 6 p.m. The events arranged for the meeting are: 220 yards handicap, 880 yards handicap, two mile handicap, throwing the discus, high jump, 120 yards hurdles, one mile cycle, two mile cycle, 100 yards ladies handicap, ladies, hop, step and jump,. Entrles for these events must be in the hands. of Mr. A. de Luen, Hinemoa Street, not later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2. Entry fees paid for events in the meeting postponed from January 22, may be utilised for entries on February 5. The programme for this and the following meetings is as follows. The programffie is subject to postponement and alteration if considered necessary by the club. February 5. — 220yds. handicap, 880yds. handicap, *two mile handicap, throwing the javelin, high jump, 120yds. hurdles, one mile cycle, two mile cycle, 100yds. ladies' handicap, ladies' hop, step and jump. February 19. — 100yds. handicap, 440yds. handicap, one mile handicap, throwing the javelin, hop, step and jump, 220yds' hurdles, half-mile cycle, one mile cycle, 120yds. ladies', ladies' high jump. March 4. — 220yds. handicap, 880yds. handicap, three mile handicap, throwing the hammer, pole vault, 440yds. hurdles, one mile cycle, two mile cycle, 100yds. ladies', ladies' broad jump. Date to be fixed. — 100yds. handicap, 440yds. handicap, one mile handicap, putting the shot, broad jump, 75yds. hurdles, half-mile cycle, three mile cycle, 75yds. ladies', ladies' broad jump. The events have been divided into: Sprints, middle distances, distance events, field events, jumping events, hurdling, cycle events and ladies' track and field events. There will be an entry fee of one shilling for each division, covering all four meetings, ,to enable competitors to enter for the whole series at the outset. There will also be trophies awarded for the highest aggregate points in each division.
