The day's record, howev-er, was at Onyeri (Victoria), where the -mercury sbared to 124' degrees iri the- shade.The heat has started the fi'res again, and- at Valhalla every available man is striving desperately to save the township. • - ( Port Augusta held the record for South Australia with 118 degrees. Adelaide recorded its fifteenth cen-tury-in thirty-four days.
