SYDNEY, Tuesday. The anhual report on labour by the Commonwealth Statistician shows a big fall in the cost of living in Australia since 1929. The report shows that the retail price for groeeries was on an average 14 per cent. cheaper in 1930 than in 1929. Dairy produce was 9 per cent. lower and meat was 6 per. cent. down. The fall continued into 1931, and had increased to over 20 per cent for food ip Jurie. The average nominal weekly wage in Australia was £5 1/5 for adult males and £2 14/2 for adult females at September, 1929. Since then wages have declined steadily, and at the end of .1930 the corresponding rates were £4 lfii.9.an,d.£2J13/7.per week.
