SHOW BUILDING
A. AND P. ASSN. DECIDES DEFINITELY TO GO AHEAD SUB-COMMITTEE SET UP At a well attended general meeting of the Rotorua A. and P. Association held last evening, the question of erecting a ipermataent show building was re-opened and plans and reports submitted by the Association's architect (Mr E. La Trobe Hill) were considered. It was definitely decided to proeeed with a building, and a subcommittee was set up to confer with the architect and report to a further general -meeting next Monday night as to the most suitable building for the assocition's purposes. Among other things the meeting definitely decided that with a view to reducing insurance costs and maintenance, any building ereeted should he finished in concrete, and that the resolution passed at a previous meeting restricting the outlay on the building to £3000 should be rescinded. It was made a recommendation to the sub-commitee that the cost of the building to be considered should not he in excess of £4000. The architect's report, which reviewed in detail the proposals submitted, outlined several building proposals ranging in cost from £3050 to £4900. The report stated that any building proposal would require about four months to carry out. A further general meeting of the association has accordingly been convened for next Monday evening when the committee's report will be received and the motion rescinding the resolution of the previous meeting confirrned. It was stated that the association had a clear title to the proposed site on the corner of Fenton and Amohau Streets, but on the motion of Mr. S. J. Hale, it was decided to obtain a written legal opinion as to whether there are any difficulties standing in the way of the association erecting a building for revenue producing purposes in addition to its own activities. It was pointed out in this connection, that the association would erect a building which would be suitable for meetings and other purposes, and that its objeet was to derive revenue from this source. The personnel of the sub-committee set up is as follows: Messrs S, J. Hale, E. T. Johnson, G. Steele, H. M; Martin and J. W. Wrigley, with the Chairman, Mr. H. P. Ford, and the vice-presidents, Messrs C. Shooter and E. Pratt ex officio.
