MUNICIPAL ASSN.
CONFEREN CE TO BE POSTPONED FOR REASONS OF ' ECONOMY NEXT GATHERING IN ROTORUA Although it has been decided by the executive of the New Zealand Municipal Association that the annual conference of. the Association, which was to have been held at Rotorua this year, is again to be postponed for reasons of economy, a definite indication was given that when the next conference i's held, its venue will not he changed and that it will be held in Rotorua as originally intended. 'It will be recalled that the conference was fo have been held in Rotorua last year, but was then postponed for reasons of economy until this year. The Mayor, Mr T. Jackson, who returned on Saturday from the meeting of the executive in Wellington, strongly 'opposed the postponement of the conference and adyocated that it should he held as previously announced. It was felt, however, that many bor"pughs might not consider sending representatives to a conference this year hnd that as it was desired that the conference should he fully representktive, it would he better to postpone ,lt this year. •j In conversation with a "Post" representative yesterday, Mr. Jackson iexpressed the opinion that a conferjence would certainly he held next jyear and stated that he had uncomjpromisingly adopted the attitude that jwhen the conference was held, it ^should be held in Rotorua.
