WHAKATANE, Saturday. A shield match between bowling teams representing the Whakatane and Taneatua bowling clubs was played at Taneatua to-day, and resulted in a victory for the visiting teams, by ten up. There was an excellent attendance to witness the contests and the weather was idal. Following are the results, Taneatue players being mentioned first: — G. MePherson, T. Mitchell, Thom, A, Pebbles (s.) 10, lost to R. F. Smith, R. Brown, W. Howat, A. Shaw (s.), 23. Sykes, Lynch, Merrie, Ferguson (s.), 18, beat H. Bell, R. Newith, M. Ramson, J. Hogg (s.) 16. Gooch, Ruddick, Butterworth, Moody (s.), 15, lost to Suckling, Hyland, Hellyar, Clark (s.), 23. G. Peebles, Maddick, Foster, J. Rae (s), 28, beat Chamberlain, Jarrett, Currah, Loane (s.) 19.
