TRANSPORT ACT
ROTORUA INCLUDED IN KO. 3 DISTRICT UNDER NEW AC.T BOUNDARY DEFINED Under Gazette of December 17, the new Transport districts set up under the Transport Licensing Act, 1931. are defined. In the majority of cases these districts have the same boundaries as the existing omnibus districts, but in certain instances, of which Rotorua is one, it has been necessary to set up new houndaries. Advicc has been received by the Town Clerk (Mr. W. A. McLean) i^hat Rotorua has been included in No. 3 Transport district which, according to the terms of the Gazette, includes "all that area situated within the boundaries of the counties of Pranklin, Raglan, Waipa, Waikato, Hauraki Plains, Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri, Tauranga, Piako. Matamata, Rotorua, Taupo, Whakatane, and Opotiki, and including all the boroughs and town districts therein and contiguous thereto." The new Transport Licensing Act comes into operation on March 1, and after that date, the Central Licensing Authority and the boards which will control the different transport districts will function. The personnels of the district boards have not yet been gazetted. Under the terms of the Act, motor transport concerns which have been operating for a term of one year will receive an automatic license for a further term of a year, but anv other companie' which have not been running ovei that period, will be required to state their case before the district board in order to receive a license.
