aucklanders win pairs title in gale of wind GOOD BOWLING IMPOSSIBLE

•Bv Teleer.mh — Onnvrir'-htl

CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The New Zealand. Bowling Association's annual tournament was concluded to-day, when the pairs championship was decided. A north-west gale made good bowling impossible, the bowls refusing to maintain their bias, and on many occasions a likely looking "king" bowl was brought to a stop some distance from the head. Post sectional play resulted: Hardley 19 v. Shaw 15; Deare 22 v. Wilson 1. Semi-final: Haworth 22. v. Deare 8; Hardley 20 v. Martha 19. Final : W. Bremner and C. Hardley (West End, Auckland) 25, beat G. Ives and R. Haworth, 9. The conditions in the final game were such as to spoil a good deal of the game. However, both skips and leads made the most of every opportunity. The Aucklanders played steadily and scored constantly. The Canterbury men missed many shots that eould have been to their advantage. The actual scores were 25-9 in Auckland's favour.
