LOSPQNt, Saturday. The - *Empire- Dairy-; • Gouricil states that Germany's proposal to double the butter tariff is causing the gravest corieern to Empire dairymen. Butter rejected by Germany is sure to be diverted to the unsheltered British market. The London tfihnager , of the NeW Zdaland Produce Boa$d expresses the^opinion, (tha't the German tariff will. probably cauSe 500,000 cwt. of 1 f oreign butter to be thrown into the already saturated British market during the coming year. • Sir Mil'es Stapletoii, representative of the British Dairy Farmers' Association, states that a tariff of 3d per lb. on foreign butter is urgently necessary if we want to save the Empire dairy industry from ruin.
