EFFECT OF GERMAN TARIFF WILL NOT BE SERIOUS IMPORTS FROM NEW ZEALAND
i. — By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. Jan. 21, 7.0 p.m. LONDON, Thursday. Until the details of German tariff changes are announced, butter traders are uncertain how it will affect the market of Australian and New Zealand products. The general opinion is that the result will not be serious. German imports of butter from Great Britain in 1931 consisttng mostly of Australian and New Zealand, with a small quantity of Argentine, were only 59,602 cwt. It is not thought likely that Danish imports to Great Britain will be much increased. Mean while, the market is inactive, and buyers are awaiting developments. Australian and New Zealand declined by 2s to 3s per cwt.
