ELOQUENT PROOF
-By Telegraph — Copyrlght.)
Rec. Jan. 20, 7.0 p.m. LONDON, Wednesday. Eloquent proofs of th.e severity of the world economic crisis and 4 the shrinkage in purchasing pbwer are supplied by the German and Italian trade returns. German exports for 1930 were £566,500,000, and for 1931, £460,2*50, 00fc The imports were. £450,000,000 and £331,500,000 respectively, a favourable trade balance of £56,500,000, and £128,750,000, respectively. It is pointed out that the shrinkage of exports is due to falling prices rather than volume while economic prohibitions explain the decline in imports. Italy's imports for 1930 were £192,000,000, and for 1931, £129,000,000. Her exports were £135,000,000 and £111,500,000, an adverse trade balance of £57,000,000 and £17,500,000 respectively.
