Rec. Jan. 15, 5.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Thursday. There are varieties of proofs that the depression has struck America. Babe Ruth, to-day, returned unsigned a contract call-
ing for the payment of £14,000 for his basehall seyvices in 1932. He said that the proposed .£2000 reduction on last year's payment was acceptable, hut he must have a twq year's contract. The haseball club management recently declared: "Never again will there be a bail player worth £16,00 0." An amicable adjustment is expected.
