With the month half gone only .68in. of rain has fallen in that period, and pastures which require a thorough 24 ho.prs' soqking have become parched under thp hot conditipns prevailing. Flower and vegetable gardens likewise are showing the effect of the dry weather, and relief, which a continuous downpqur alpne can giye, is anxiously awaited.
