HAMILTON, Friday. Rain is urgently needed in the Waikato, and if the present dry weather does not break shortly many farmers will be obliged to supplement tbe

scanty feed of their pastures by ensilage, hay or root crops. With the month half gone only .68in. of rain has fallen in that period, and pastures which require a thorough 24 ho.prs' soqking have become parched under thp hot conditipns prevailing. Flower and vegetable gardens likewise are showing the effect of the dry weather, and relief, which a continuous downpqur alpne can giye, is anxiously awaited.
