MR. DON HARKNESS SAYS CAR NOT DESIGNED FOR 300 M.P.IL UNDESIRABLE STATEMENTS

-By Telegraph — Copyright)

SYDNEY, Friday. Mr. Don Harkness informed the Prefes that he definitely dissociates himself from any claim that Mr. "Wizard" Smith's car is designed for or intended to achieve speeds in the vicinity of 300 miles an hour. "We" are dealing with many unknown factors," he said, "and it would be unwise to make any prediction. My mission has been to build q, car capable of bettering the existing record, but I have .not yet aimed at such a high rate of speed as is freely reported. It is undesirable that such ambitious statements should be made and circulated, although if the Stewart Enterprise is as successful as I hope it will be its gearing may be modified to atttain still more phenomenal speeds."
