IF WISHES REGARDING BEACH CONTROL NOT RESPECTED PROBABLE SPEED OF CAR
-By Telegraph — Copyright).
AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr. "Wizard" Smith stated at the Ninety IJile Beaeh that if wishies regarding the control of the beach were hot respected he wquld transfer his attempt on the land record to Daytona. Concerning Mr. Don Harkness' statement in Sydney, the Enterprise's designer arifl bqilder stated before leaving Auckland that it was unreasonable for anyqne to claim that the 300 milps mark would be reached in the fqrthcoming attack upon the land record. Even the Bluebird, with all its improvements over the Golden Arrow, added only 14 miles to the late Sir H. Segrave's record. Mr. Harkness further said he would be satisfied to beat Sir M. Campbell's figures by 15- miles, espeeially as the Enterprise was not designed for anything beyond 265. As it once took him weeks to increase the speed of an ordinary car by five miles, it would be amazing, declared Mr. Harkness, if he could build a car to travel 55 miles faster than the Bluebird.
