EXPLOSIVES LOST
POLICE ANXIOUS IN CASE FOUND BY SMALL CHILDREN FELL OFF MOTOR LORRY Considerable anxiety is felt by the Rotorua police cdncerning the loss of an attache case containing 30 plugs of gelignite, 40 detonators and a length of fuse, which fell from a motor-lorry returning from Ngongotaha to Rotorua on Monday evening. It is thought possible that some children may have found the explosives and not knowing their deadly nature, may injure themselves or cause damage to property. The case belonged to Mr. F. J. Skelton, of Arawa Street, a contractor. When Mr. Skelton discovered that it was missing, as well as some timber and, long handled shovels, he immediately returned op his tracks, hut though he., found the shovels there was no traee of either the explosives or the timber. Anxiety was at first felt lest a vehicle run over the case as it , lay on the road and cause an ejcplosioii, but the police are how certain that they have been removed and inquiri'd'S are being made with a view to their recovery.
