CANADIAN SECURITIES EXEMPT FROM AMERICAN LOAN EMBARGO SENATE COMMITTEE'S DECISION

• ' WASHINGTON, Wednes. The United States' Senate subCommittee on Banking and Currency has fexempted' Canadian Governmental and Corporation securities from the provisions of Mr. Hoover's two billion dollars reconstruction corporation which states that, "No loans or adIvances shall be made on securities issued by foreign governments or corporations." Senator Carter Glass ^Virginia), said that the £ub-eommittee's action was a compliment to Canada and a neighbourly gesture. A message from Toronto says. "The evidence of ' cohfidence in Canada and Canadian securities as indicated by the United States' subCommittee is very gratifying to Canadian bankers," Mr. J. A. ■ McLeod, President of the Canadian Bankers' Association arid" the general manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia, stated to-day.
