HAY -STACKER IN CONTACT WITH LIVE POWER LINES MAN AND HORSES UNINJURED % ______

TAUPIRI, Tuesday. ' Mr. R. Jones, of Kainui was driving a. hay-stacker across a paddock which is traversed hy the main electricpower line from Hora Hora to Auckland when the top of the stacker came in contact with the wires. Mr. Jones,. the horses, and the maehine were knocked over, and sparks flew like a fireworks display, but Mr Jones and the horses miraculously escaped injury. The stacker
was badly charred. Mr. Jones was wearing gumhoots at the time and attributes his lucky escape to that fact. There are six lines carried on big steel tower standards. Three of the lines were dead while the other three carried 50,000 volts between them.
