-By Telegraph — Copyright).

LONDON, Monday. One of the 'most daring highway robberies in many years was carfied out in the heart of West End. "In the presence of crowds of shoppers and almost under the nose of a policeman, a jeweller's manager, while returning from the bank, was attacked and robbed of a box of jewels worth nearly £20,000. The thief jumped on to a motor car and escaped. A police flying squad vainly pursued him. The manager was ^.ttackeck from behind. His hat was pulled over his eyes as he was felled. The thieves had evidently studied his Monday morning practice of carrying jewellery from the bank in New Bond Street. While the police were scouring Mayfair for the highw.ayman, three other bandits swooped on another jeweller's shop within 50 yards of the other robbery, smashed a window and grahbed ( a tray containing several thousand pounds worth of brooches. They held off a passer-by who tried to seize them, and dashed away in a motor car.
