The Government meteorologist issued the foiiowing weather report and i forecast last night: — General. Situatio'n: Pressure is still normai in^ the North Tasman Sea, i but a serles of low pressure waves extends from Tasmania to soiithern ] New Zealand. Forecastt Winds mainly westeriy and north-westerly moderate to strong i generally and at times Teaching gale force in Cook Strait. Weather: Fair to fine at first with tisfhg temperatures; later Showery in the western and far southern districts but more. showery in the West Coast of the South Island. Following are the barometer, rriaxi- j mum and minimum thermometer and rainfall readings recorded-at the Gov- j ^rnmfent Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for \ the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday:— Barometer 29.812ins.
