Burta Station, 50 miles from Broken Hill, recorded 120 degrees yesterday, Pooncarie 118 degrees, while Loxton, near Renmark, reported 117 degrees. Harvesting work in that district has been suspended for sever'al days and sheep are dying in scores. A thunderstorm last night in the Metropolitan area interfered with the electric services and plunged Parramatta temporarily into darkness.
