LANDS COMMISSIGNERS DISMISSED FOR NEGLECT L AN G-PL ANNER S APPOINTED

SYDNEY, Tuesday. A protracted investigation by the Industrial Magistrate, Mr. Prior resulted in stringent criticism of the three commissioners comprising the Western Lands Board, whom he declared to be guilty of misbehaviour and incompetence to carry out the dnties of their office. The State Government has decided to dismiss the commissioners and appoint the following new board: — Mr. P. M. McGirr, a Legislativ-e councillor, and brother of the Minister of Local Government,' Mr. T. Watson, a surveyor of Forbes, and the Lang Plan candidate for Calare at the recent Federal elections; and Mr. W. Stag-g, secretary of the Returned Soldiers' League. The term of appointment is seven years. Mr. McGirr, as chairman, is to receive £1500 a year, and the others £1000. The announcement of the personnel has caused considerable surprise.
