The French and British Governients have agreed to the meeting n january 18 at The Hague of the jebts and Reparations Conference uggested by the Basle Advisory Comilttee experts. Jt was announced to-night that ofcial notice of this suggestion has een despatched to the other intersfed powers. 'The unanimous opinion of the 'rench members of the Basle Comjittee is that the success of the conerertce depends on the United States, ut no indication is given of their itentions regarding official particiation. ■ Meanwhile, preparatory talks by ie French and British Treasuries ill be resumed on the arrival here wnorrow of Sir Frederick Leith oss.
