FAREWELL SUPPER

I At the conclusion of the annual prize-giving ceremony of the Roto- 1 rua High School held recently in the | Lyric Theatre, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. j Ryder entertained members of the , school staff at a farewell supper held ; at their residence in Elizabeth Street. Although regret was felt hy all at the impending departure of the host and hostess, no suggestion of this was permitted to mar the pleasure of the final gathering, and all present responded nobly to make the evening a suceess. Mrs. Ryder wore a striking froek of black lace with a coatee to match to receive her guests in a hall brightly decorated with roses, earnations and multi-coloured sweet peas. The evening's entertainment was pleasantly augmented by several songs given by Mr. J. J. Buehan. Mr. R. G. Webb and Mr. C. A. Noblev distinguished themselves by their rendering of a humorous duet. Later followed a quartette, comprising Mr. W. H. Evans, Mr. L. Clark, Mr. Noble and Mr. Webb. The guests included: Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Noble, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Evans, Miss J. Wilson, Miss S. Foote, Miss E. Simmers, Miss E. Campbell, Miss D. Griffiths, Miss G. Cameron-Jobnson, Mr. J. Learning, Mr. J. J. Buchan, Mr. H. A. Goodwin, Mr. L. Clark, Mr. R. G. Webb, Mr. J. Hinton.
